وَتُغَلِّبُ حُبَّ ثَوْبٍ تَشْتَهِيهِ عَلَى ثَوَابٍ تَشْتَرِيهِ
And you prioritize love for a garment you desire over a reward you should purchase
O sì fi ìfẹ́ aṣọ tí o fẹ́ síwájú ju èrè tí o ye ki o rà lọ
يَوَاقِيتُ الصِّلَاتِ أَعْلَقُ بِقَلْبِكَ مِنْ مَوَاقِيتِ الصَّلَاةِ
The rubies of connections are dearer to your heart than the times of prayer
Àwọn ọ̀ṣọ́ ìdàpọ̀ ṣe pàtàkì sí ọkàn rẹ ju àkókò àdúrà lọ
وَمُغَالَاةُ الصَّدُقَاتِ آثَرُ عِنْدَكَ مِنْ مُوَالَاةِ الصَّدَقَاتِ
And exaggeration in gifting ladies is more preferable to you than consistency in charity
Àṣejù nínú fifun omidan lowo ṣe pàtàkì sí ọ ju ìṣesí déédé nínú ìtọrẹ lọ
وَصِحَافُ الْأَلْوَانِ
And plates of various colors
Àti àwọn àwo alawo orisirisi
أَشْهَى إِلَيْكَ مِنْ صَحَائِفِ الْأَدْيَانِ
More desirable to you than the pages of religions
O fẹ́ jú àwọn ìwé ẹ̀sìn lọ
وَدُعَابَةُ الْأَقْرَانِ آنَسُ لَكَ مِنْ تِلَاوَةِ الْقُرْآنِ!
And the jest of peers is more pleasant to you than the recitation of the Quran!
Ẹ̀rín pelu àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́ rẹ sì dùn mọ́ ọ ju kíka Kùráánì lọ!
تَأْمُرُ بِالْعُرْفِ وَتَنْتَهِكُ حِمَاهُ
You command what is right yet violate its sanctuary
O ń pàṣẹ ohun tí ó tọ́ síbẹ̀ o ń tẹ̀ ogba rẹ mọ́lẹ̀
وَتَحْمِي عَنِ النُّكْرِ وَلَا تَتَحَامَاهُ!
And you defend against the wrong yet do not avoid it!
O sì ń kọ fun awon eeyan lati se ohun tí kò dára síbẹ̀ o kò yẹra fún un!
وَتُزَحْزِحُ عَنِ الظُّلْمِ ثُمَّ تَغْشَاهُ
You distance yourself from injustice then embrace it
O ń gbe abosi jìnnà sí ara re lẹ́yìn náà o ko si
وَتَخْشَى النَّاسَ وَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَخْشَاهُ!
And you fear people while Allah is more deserving that you fear Him!
O sì ń bẹ̀rù ènìyàn nígbà tí Ọlọ́hun ló yẹ kí o bẹ̀rù rẹ̀ jù!
