الْمَقَامَةُ السَّمَرْقَنْدِيَّةُ

So I held back until he finished the obligation prayer.

Nítorí náà, mo dúró títí tí ó fi parí adua ojúṣe náà.

And dispersal on the earth was allowed.

Tí ì didé sórí ilẹ̀ ayé jẹ́ ẹtọ́.

Then I faced him.

Lẹ́yìn náà, mo dojú kọ ọ.

And hastened to meet him.

Mo sì yara láti pàdé rẹ̀.

When he noticed me, he quickly stood up.

Nigba tí ó rí mi, ó yara dìde.

And was very gracious in his hospitality.

Ó sì jẹ́ aláàánú púpọ̀ níbi ṣíṣe apọnle rẹ̀.

Then he accompanied me to his house.

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó mú mi lọ sí ilé rẹ̀.

And entrusted me with his special secrets.

Ó sì fi àwọn àṣírí pàtàkì rẹ̀ lé mi lọ́wọ́.

When the wings of darkness spread.

Nigba tí iyẹ́ òkùnkùn tẹ jáde.

And the time for sleep approached.
