الْمَقَامَةُ الْكرجية

Then he said: As for returning the fur coat, it is farther than returning yesterday.

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó sọ pé: Ọ ri kí n da aṣọ irun náà padà, ó jìnnà ju kí n da àná padà lọ.

And the dead of the past.

Àti àwọn òkú ti ó ti kọjá tipẹ́

As for the winter's reward, glory be to Him who imprinted on your mind.

Nípa èrè ìgbà òtútù, ògo ni fún Ẹni tí ó fi ìrántí náà sí ọkàn rẹ.

And weakened the vessel of your memory.

Àti tí ó sọ àpótí ìrántí rẹ di aláìlera.

Until you forgot what I recited to you in the countryside by Ibn Sukkara.

Títí tí o fi gbàgbé ohun tí mo kọ fún ọ ní abúlé nípa Ọ̀mọ́ Sukara.

Winter came, and I have seven needs if the rain holds back our needs.

Òtútù dé, mo sì ní àwọn nnkan méje tí mo nílò tí ó bá jẹ́ pé òjò bá dínà àwọn nnkan tí a nílò.

A shelter, a bag, a stove, a cup of wine after the kebab, a soft hand, and a cloak.

Ààbò, àpò, àdíre, ìkòkò, ìkòkò wáìnì lẹ́yìn kábábù, ọwọ́ pẹ̀lẹ́pẹ̀lẹ́, àti aṣọ ìbòjú.

Then he said: A satisfying answer is better than a warming cloak.

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó sọ pé: Ìdáhùn tó ń ṣe ìwòsan dára jù aṣọ ìbòjú tó ń gbóná lọ.

So be content with what you have understood and withdraw.

Nítorí náà, jẹ́ kó o ní ìtẹ́lọ́rùn pẹ̀lú ohun tí o ti mọ kí o sì yípadà.

So I left him, and my fur coat went with my misfortune.

Nítorí náà, mo fi í sílẹ̀, aṣọ irun mi sì lọ pẹ̀lú ìbànújẹ́ mi.
