واستسلَمت تمائِمنا لسِحرِه.
And our charms surrendered to its magic.
Ti àwọn àṣírí paró wa fi ara wọn lẹ fún ìdán rẹ̀.
عدلْنا منِ استِثْقالِ الرؤيةِ له الى استِنزالِ الروايةِ عنه.
We shifted from the burden of seeing it to the ease of narrating it.
A yí padà láti ìnira rírí rẹ̀ sí ìròyìn rẹ̀.
ومِن بغيِ التبرمِ بهِ الى ابتِغاء التعلّمِ منه.
And from the evil of being offended with him, to the pursuit of learning from him.
Ati kúrò nínú aburú bìbínú wá sí làti ọdọ rẹ̀ sí ìfẹ́ kikọ́ ẹ̀kọ́ rẹ̀.
فقال: والذي نزلَ النحو في الكَلام.
He said: By Him who sent down grammar into speech.
Ó sọ pé: Nípa Ẹni tó sọ̀ ìmọ Gírámà kalẹ sínú ọ̀rọ̀.
منزلَةَ المِلْحِ في الطّعام.
Like salt in food.
Bí iyọ̀ nínú oúnjẹ.
وحجبه عن بصائِرِ الطّغام.
And concealed it from the insights of the ignorant.
ó sì fi í pamọ́ kúrò nínú ìmòye àwọn òmùgọ̀.
لا أنلْتكُم مراماً.
I will not grant you your desire.
Èmi kì yóò fún yín ní ìfẹ́ yín.
ولا شفيت لكُم غَراماً.
Nor will I satisfy your longing.
Ati èmi kì yóò mú ìfẹ́ yín ṣẹ.
أو تخولَني كلُّ يدٍ.
Until every hand blessed me.
Àyàfi tí gbogbo ọwọ́ bá bùkún mí,
ويخْتصني كلٌ منكُم بيدٍ.
And each of you singled me out with a gift.
Kí ìkọọkan yín yàn mí pẹ̀lú ẹ̀bun.
