الْمَقَامَةُ الْحُلْوَانِيَّةُ

Yoruba: Nítorí náà ó ka: "Nítòótọ́, àpakan abá dídá jẹ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀."

English: Then he said: O narrators of poetry,

Yoruba: Lẹ́yìn náà ó sọ: Ẹ̀yin olùsọ ewì,

English: and healers of sick speech,

Yoruba: àti olùwòsàn ọ̀rọ̀ aláìsàn,

English: The essence of the jewel appears through melting,

Yoruba: Pàtàkì alumonu iyebíye máa ń hàn nípasẹ̀ yíyọ̀,

English: and the hand of truth rends the cloak of doubt.

Yoruba: ọwọ́ òtítọ́ sì máa ń fa aṣọ iyèméjì ya.

English: It has been said in times past:

Yoruba: A ti sọ ní àwọn àkókò tí ó ti kọjá:

English: At the time of trial,

Yoruba: Ní àkókò ìdánwò,

English: a man is honored or disgraced.

Yoruba: a máa ń bọ̀wọ̀ fún ènìyàn tàbí a dójútì í.

English: And here I am, I have presented my hidden treasure for testing,
