الْمَقَامَةُ الْحُلْوَانِيَّةُ

English: nor has any talent allowed its like.

Yoruba: bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sí ọgbọ́n tí ó fàyè gba irú rẹ̀.

English: So if you prefer to captivate hearts,

Yoruba: Nítorí náà tí o bá fẹ́ láti fa ọkàn àwọn ènìyàn,

English: Then compose in this style.

Yoruba: Nígbà náà kọ ní irú àṣà yìí.

English: She rained pearls from Daffodils and watered

Yoruba: Ó rọ̀ iyùn láti inú ewé daffodil ó sì bọ́mi sí

English: roses and bit upon jujube with hail

Yoruba: àwọn ewé òdòdó ó sì gé jujube pẹ̀lú yìnyín

English: It was but as the twinkling of an eye, or even quicker.
