الْمَقَامَةُ الْحُلْوَانِيَّةُ

51

كَأْسَ الْفِرَاقِ.


English

the cup of separation.

52

وَأَغْرَاهُ عَدَمُ الْعُرَاقِ.


English

And the lack of meal enticed him,

Àìsí oúnjẹ sì tàn án jẹ,

53

بِتَطْلِيقِ الْعِرَاقِ.


English

to leave Iraq.

Yoruba

láti fi ìlú Irak sílẹ̀.

54

وَلَفَظَتْهُ مَعَاوِزُ الْإِرْفَاقِ.


English

And the lack of provisions expelled him,

Àìko rí àwọn nkan ìgbádùn, sì lé e jáde,

55

إِلَى مَفَاوِزِ الْآفَاقِ.


English

to the desert areas.

Yoruba

sí àwọn àgbègbè àṣàlẹ,

56

وَنَظَمَهُ فِي سِلْكِ الرُّفَاقِ.


English

And strung him in the thread of companions,

Ó sì so ọ mọ́ okùn àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́,

57

خُفُوقُ رَايَةِ الْإِخْفَاقِ.


English

the fluttering of the flag of failure.

Yoruba

Fìfẹ̀ àsíá ìkùnà.

58

فَشَحَذَ لِلرَّحْلَةِ غِرَارَ عَزْمَتِهِ.


English

So he sharpened for the journey the edge of his determination,

Nítorí náà ó pọ́n ojú ìpinnu rẹ̀ mú fún ìrìnàjò náà,

59

وَظَعَنَ يَقْتَادُ الْقَلْبَ بِأَزِمَّتِهِ.


English

and departed, taking heart along with its reins.

ó sì lọ, tó ń fa ọkàn lọ pẹ̀lú okùn rẹ̀.

60

فَمَا رَاقَنِي مَنْ لَاقَنِي بَعْدَ بَعْدِهِ.


English

No one who met me after his departure pleased me,

Yoruba

Kò sí ẹni tí ó bá mi pàdé lẹ́yìn lìlọ rẹ̀ tí inú mi dùn sí,
