الْمَقَامَةُ الْمَرَاغِيَّةُ

وَإِطْرَاؤُهُ يَجْتَذَبُ


English

His flattery attracts

وَمَلَامُهُ يُجْتَنَبُ


English

His blame is avoided

وَوَرَاءَهُ ضَفَفٌ


English

Behind him is crowding

Lẹ́yìn rẹ̀ ni ìdọ́tí wà

مَسَّهُمْ شَظَفٌ


English

Hardship has touched them

Ìpọ́njú ti kàn wọ́n

وَحَصَّهُمْ جَنَفٌ


English

Injustice has singled them out

Àìṣòdodo ti ya wọ́n sọ́tọ̀

وَعَمَّهُمْ قَشَفٌ


English

Austerity has encompassed them

Àìní ti kún wọ́n mọ́

وَهُوَ فِي دَمْعٍ يَجِيبُ


English

He is in tears that respond

وَوَلَهٍ يُذِيبُ

And longing that melts
