الْمَقَامَةُ الْبَرْقَعِيدِيَّةُ

English: Al-Harith bin Hammam narrated, saying

Yoruba: Hárìsù ọmọ Hammam sọ̀rọ̀, ó wí pé

English: I resolved to depart from Barqa'id

Yoruba: Mo pinnu láti kúrò ní Barka'id

English: And I had glimpsed the lightning of a festival

Yoruba: Mo sì ti rí mọ̀nàmọ́ná àjọ̀dún kan

English: So I disliked departing from that city

Yoruba: Nítorí náà, mo kò láti kúrò ní ìlú náà

English: Until I witness there the day of adornment

Yoruba: Títí má fi rìí ọjọ́ ọ̀ṣọ́ níbẹ̀

English: When it approached with its obligatory and voluntary [rituals]

Yoruba: Nígbà tí ó súnmọ́ pẹ̀lú àwọn ìṣe dandan àti àtinúwá rẹ̀

English: And it advanced with its cavalry and infantry

Yoruba: Tí ó sì ń tẹ̀síwájú pẹ̀lú àwọn ológun ẹlẹ́ṣin àti ẹlẹ́sẹ̀ rẹ̀

English: I followed the tradition in wearing new clothes

Yoruba: Mo tẹ̀lé àṣà ní wíwọ aṣọ tuntun

English: And I went out with those who went out for the festival

Yoruba: Mo sì jáde pẹ̀lú àwọn tí ó jáde fún àjọ̀dún náà

English: And when the congregation of the prayer ground gathered and organized

Yoruba: Nígbà tí àwùjọ ibi àdúrà kójọpọ̀ tí wọ́n sì fara balẹ
