Until we saw the ruins of ‘Anah.
Títí di bí a ṣe rí àwọn ilé alapa ìlú Anáh.
He said to us: Help, help!
Ó wí fún wa pé: Ẹ jọ̀wọ́, ẹ jọ̀wọ́!
So we brought him the known and the hidden, and showed him the locked and the sealed.
Nítorí náà, a mú ohun tí ó hàn àti ohun tí àfi pamọ́ fún un, a sì fi àwọn ohun tó jẹ dìde àti àwọn tí ó di mọ́lẹ̀ hàn án.
We said to him: Judge as you will, for you will find nothing but contentment in us.
A sọ fún un pé: Ṣé ìdájọ́ rẹ bí o ṣe fẹ́, fún ìwọ kò ní rí nǹkan kan ṣùgbọ́n ìtẹlọ́rùn nínú wa.
Nothing pleased him except the lightness and beauty, and nothing adorned his sight except the adornments and the coin.
Kò sí nǹkan tó dùn ninú Júù nkan kékeré àti ẹwa, kò sì sí nǹkan tí ó dára ní ojú rẹ̀ ju ẹwà ati owó ẹyọ kan lọ
So he bore his burden, and was laden with what would satisfy his poverty.
Ó ṣe ẹṣa ẹrù ohùn tó fẹ́ràn, ó sì mú ohunkóhun tí yóò biya bùkátà rẹ
Then he dodge from us like a pickpocket and slipped away from us like a fugitive.
Lẹ́yìn náà, ó sá fún wa bí olè, ó sì yọ lọ fún wa bí ẹni tó ń sá lọ.
His departure saddened us, and his escape astonished us.
Lílọ rẹ ba wá nínú jẹ, sí salọ rẹ sì yà wá lẹnu,
We continued to seek him in every gathering and inquire about him in every valley and hill.
A kò kúrú lati tẹ̀síwájú láti ṣàwárí rẹ ní gbogbo àpéjọ, a sì béèrè rẹ ni gbogbo òkè ati ìsàlẹ láti mọ ohun tó ṣẹ̀lẹ̀ sí i.
Until we were told: Since he entered ‘Anah, he has not left the tavern.
Títí a fi gbọ́ pé: Látìgbà tí ó wọ 'Anah, kò ti lọ kúrò ní ile mímu ọtí.
