My arrow and my cup would have failed, and my hardship and loss would have continued.
Ọfà mi àti àwo mi yóò ti ṣìkà, ìpọnjú àti òfò mi yóò sì ti tẹ̀síwájú.
So tell the one who blames, this is my excuse, and accept my excuse.
Nítorí náà, sọ fún ẹni tí ó bá fi ẹ̀bi kàn mi pé èyí ni ìdáhùn mi, kí o sì gbá ìdáhùn mi.
Al-Harith ibn Hammam said:
Hárìsù ọmọ Hammam sọ pé:
When the truth of his matter became clear.
Nigba tí òtítọ́ ohun tí ó ṣe yé kedere.
And the wonder of his matter.
Ati ìyanu ohun tí ó ṣe.
And what he adorned in his poetry as his excuse.
Ati ohun tí ó fi ṣe ẹwà nínú ewì rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìdáhùn rẹ̀.
I knew that his rebellious devil.
Mo mọ̀ pé ẹ̀mí èṣù rẹ̀ tó ń ṣàìgbọràn.
Does not listen to refutation.
Kò ní gbọ́ ìbáwí.
And does only what he wants.
Ati pe yóò ṣe ohun tí ó fẹ́ nìkan.
So I turned (back) my rein to my companions.
Nítorí náà, mo padà sí ọdọ àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ mi.
