الْمَقَامَةُ الْبَغْدَادِيَّةُ

51

ويطعِمون الضيفَ لحماً غَريض.

And they fed the guest fresh meat.

Wọ́n sì ń fún àlejò ní ẹran tuntun.

ما باتَ جار لهم ساغِباً.


English

No neighbor of theirs slept hungry.

Yoruba

Kò sí aládùúgbò wọn tó sùn láìjẹun.

ولا لروعٍ قال حالَ الجريض.


English

Nor did anyone in fear say they were in distress.

Tabi ẹni tí ó bẹ̀rù sọ pé wọ́n wà nínú ìpọnjú.

فغيضتْ منهم صروفُ الردى.


English

Their generosity dried up the misfortunes.

Yoruba

Ìfẹ́ wọn ti gbẹ́ àwọn ìbànújẹ́.

بِحار جودٍ لم نخَلْها تَغيض.


English

Seas of generosity that we never thought would dry up.

Yoruba

Òkun ìfẹ́ tí a kò rò pé yóò gbẹ́.

56

وأُودِعتْ منهم بطون الثّرى.


English

And they were buried in the depths of the earth.

Wọ́n sì sin wọn nínú ìgbó ilẹ̀.

أُسد التّحامي وأُساةَ المريض.


English

Lions of protection and healers of the sick.

Yoruba

Àwọn kìnnìún ààbò àti àwọn tó ń ṣe iwòsàn fún aláìsàn.

فمحملي بعد المطايا المطا.


English

My burden after the burdens of the mounts, is now my back.

Yoruba

Ẹrù mi lẹ́yìn ẹrù àwọn ẹranko, tí wá di ẹyin mi.

وموطِني بعد اليفاعِ الحضيض.


English

And my home, after been in the heights, is now in the depths.

Yoruba

Ati ilé mi, lẹ́yìn gíga, tí wà ni ìsàlẹ̀.

60

وأفرخي ما تأتَلي تشتَكي.


English

And my chicks complain every day.

Yoruba

Ati pé àwọn ọmọ ẹyẹ mi ń kẹ́dùn ní gbogbo ọjọ́.
