الْمَقَامَةُ الْفرضية

And you have come to the son of its expert.

Àti pé ẹ ti dé ọ̀dọ̀ ọmọ òǹkọ̀wé rẹ̀.

But I am burning inside.

Ṣùgbọ́n inú mi ń jó.

And in need of dinner.

Àti pé mo nílò oúnjẹ alẹ́

So honor my stay, then listen to my verdict.

Nítorí náà, ẹ ṣe apọnle dìde mí, lẹ́yìn náà, gbọ́ ìdáhùn mi.

He said: You have been fair in your conditions and avoided excessiveness.

Ó sọ pé: Ẹ ti ṣe dédé nínú àwọn òfin yín àti pé ẹ ti yà ara yín kúrò nínú àṣeju

So come with me to my abode, to obtain what you desire and return as you should.

Nítorí náà, ẹ bá mi lọ sí ibùdó mi, láti rí ohun tí ẹ fẹ́ àti padà bí ó ti yẹ.

He said: I accompanied him to his place, as Allah decreed.

Ó sọ pé: Mo bá a lọ sí ibùdó rẹ̀, bí Ọlọ́run ti pàṣẹ.

He brought me into a house narrower than a coffin and weaker than a spider's web.

Ó mú mi wọ ilé kan tí ó kéré jù àpótí lọ àti tí ó rọrùn jù ilé àlàntakun lọ.

But he compensated for its narrowness with its length.

Ṣùgbọ́n ó fi gígùn rẹ̀ san àìní ààyè rẹ̀.

He gave me authority over the hospitality and the best of what was bought.

Ó fún mi ní àṣẹ lórí gbígbà àlejò àti ohun tí ó dára jù nínú ohun tí wọ́n rà.
