الْمَقَامَةُ الْفرضية

I said: I want the most splendid rider on the most delightful mount.

Mo sọ pé: Mo fẹ́ ẹlẹ́ṣin tí ó dára jù lórí ẹṣin tí ó dára jù.

And the most beneficial companion with the most harmful one.

Àti ọ̀rẹ́ tí ó wúlò jù pẹ̀lú ẹni tí ó ṣe ìparun jù.

He thought for a long time, then said: Perhaps you mean the daughter of a palm tree with the milk of a young goat.

Ó ròri fún ìgbà pípẹ́, lẹ́yìn náà, ó sọ pé: Bóyá ẹ túmọ̀ rẹ sí ọmọ obì kan pẹ̀lú ọmú ewúrẹ́ kékeré.

I said: I meant them, and for their sake, I have come.

Mo sọ pé: àwọn ni mo túmọ̀ sí, àti fún wọn ni mo wá.

He rose energetically, then sat down angrily.

Ó dìde pẹ̀lú ìgboyà, lẹ́yìn náà, ó jókòó pẹ̀lú ìbínú.

He said: Know, may Allah rectify you, that truth is nobility and lying is a defect.

Ó sọ pé: Ẹ mọ̀, kí Ọlọ́run mú yín dáadáa, pé òtítọ́ jẹ́ ìyì àti pé èké jẹ́ àìlera.

Do not let hunger, which is the emblem of prophets and the adornment of saints, lead you astray.

Ẹ má jẹ́ kí ebi, tí ó jẹ́ àmì àwọn wòlíì àti ohun ìṣọ̀ra àwọn ẹni mímọ́, mú yín lọ ní ọ̀nà àìtọ́.

To follow those who have deviated and adopt the character that opposes faith.

Láti tẹ̀lé àwọn tí ó ti yà kúrò ní ọ̀nà àti láti gba ìwà tí ó kọjá ìgbàgbọ́.

For a noble woman may starve but will not eat with her breasts, and she refuses disgrace even if compelled to it.

Nítorí pé obìnrin olóòótọ́ lè ṣòfò ṣùgbọ́n kò ní jẹun pẹ̀lú ọmú rẹ̀, àti pé ó kọ ìtìjú bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé wọ́n fi ipa mú un.

And I am not a customer for you, nor will I overlook a bad deal.

Àti pé èmi kì í ṣe oníbàárà fún yín, àti pé èmi kì yóò fi ojú kọjá owo tí kò dára.
