الْمَقَامَةُ الْفرضية

And take me as one of your advisors.

mú mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀kan nínú àwọn olùmọ́́ràn rẹ.

For you will find in me a healing medicine.

Nítorí pé dájúdájú ìwọ yóò rí ìwòsàn nínú mi.

Or a comforting aid.

Àbí ìrànlọ́wọ́ tí ó ń tù ú nínú.

He said: By Allah, my groaning is not from a life that has passed.

Ó sọ pé: pẹ̀lú orúkọ Ọlọ́run,ẹkún mi kò jẹ́ nítorí ayé tí ó ti kọjá.

Nor from a time that has been lost.

Àti pé kò jẹ́ nítorí àkókò tí ó ti sọnù.

But because of the extinction of knowledge and its lessons.

Ṣùgbọ́n nítorí ìparun ìmọ̀ àti ẹ̀kọ́ rẹ̀.

And the setting of its moons and suns.

Àti ìparun àwọn òṣùpá àti oorun rẹ̀.

So I said: What event has occurred.

Nítorí náà, mo sọ pé: Kí ni iṣẹlẹ̀ tí ó ti ṣẹlẹ̀.

And what case has become obscure.

Àti pé iṣẹ́ wo ni ó ti di àìmọ̀.

That has stirred your sorrow.

Tí ó ti mú ìbànújẹ́ yín jáde.
