الْمَقَامَةُ السنجارية

And whenever he saw my increasing resistance.

Nígbàtí ó bá rí ìdíwọ̀ mi tí ó ń pọ̀ sí i.

And seeking refuge.

Ati wíwá ààbò.

It commits and ignites.

Yóò dá ẹṣẹ. yoo si dá iná.

And burns upon the embers.

Yóò sì jó lórí ẹṣẹna (oguna).

And my soul, despite that, does not permit parting with my full moon.

Ẹmí mi, láìka èyí sí, kò gba kí n kúrò lọdọ oṣùpá mi.

Nor to remove my heart from my chest.

Tabi láti yọ ọkàn mi kúrò ní àyà mi.

Until the threat became an action.

Títí tí ìkìlọ̀ náà fi di ìṣe.

And the rebuke became a clash.

Ati ìbáwí náà di ìjà.

So compassion led me from the moment.

Nítorí náà, àánú mú mi kúrò nígbà náà.

Until I fulfilled it with the blackness of the eye.

Títí tí mo fi mú un ṣẹ́ pẹ̀lú dídúra ojú.
