For Allah has mended your grief, brightened your sustenance, and gathered you under the shade of sweetness.
Nítorí pé Ọlọ́run ti tún ìbànújẹ́ yín ṣe, ó ti mú oúnjẹ yín rọ̀, ó sì ti kó yín jọ ní abẹ́ ojú ìbùdó àdídùn.
And perhaps you dislike something, but it is good for you.
Ó ṣeé ṣe kí ẹ máa kórìíra nkan kan, ṣùgbọ́n ó dára fún yín.
And when he was about to leave, he inclined towards seeking the dishes as a gift.
Nígbà tí ó fẹ́ lọ, ó yí padà sí bìbéèrè àwọn ìgbá àbọ náà gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀bùn.
He said to the host: One of the signs of grace is the generosity of the giver with the gift.
Ó sọ fún olùgbéjà pé: Ọ̀kan lára àmi ìfẹ́ ni ìfẹ́ràn olùfún pẹ̀lú ẹ̀bùn.
He said: Both are yours and the boy's. So, omit the words and leave in peace.
Ó sọ pé: Méjèèjì jẹ́ tirẹ̀ àti ti ọmọ náà. Nítorí náà, yọ̀ àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ náà kúrò kí o sì lọ ní àlàáfíà.
He leapt in response and thanked him like the garden thanks the clouds.
Ó jáde ní ìdáhùn ó sì dúpẹ́ fún un bí ọgbà ṣe máa ń dúpẹ́ fún àwọn àwọsánmọ̀.
Then Abu Zayd led us to his garden and let us judge his sweets.
Lẹ́yìn náà, Baba Seidu mú wa lọ sí ọgbà rẹ̀ ó sì jẹ́ kí a ṣe ìdájọ́ àwọn àdídùn rẹ̀.
He began to turn the vessels with his hand, counting them one by one.
Ó bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í yí àwọn ikòkò padà pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ rẹ̀, ó sì ń kà wọn ní ọ̀kan lẹ́yìn ọ̀kan.
Then he said: I do not know whether to complain about that slanderer or to thank him. Should I forget his deed or remember it?
Lẹ́yìn náà, ó sọ pé: Mi ò mọ̀ bóyá mo yẹ̀ kí n kẹ́dùn nípa ẹni tí ó purọ́ yẹn tàbí kí n dúpẹ́ fún un. Ṣé mo yẹ̀ kí n gbàgbé iṣé rẹ̀ tàbí kí n rántí rẹ̀?
For although he committed the crime and spread the slander, from his cloud came this rain, and by his sword, this booty was won.
Nítorí pé bí ó tilẹ̀ ṣe ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ náà ó sì tàn ìròyìn burúkú, láti àwọsánmọ̀ rẹ̀ ni ìrì yìí ti wá, àti pẹ̀lú idà rẹ̀ ni a ti gba ọlá yìí.
