الْمَقَامَةُ الرقطاء

He is not stingy but generous, and when he competes he surpassed, and no door can surpass him.

Kò jẹ́ ẹni tí ó jẹ́ aláìnífẹ̀ẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n ó jẹ́ ẹni tí ó ń fún ní lọ́wọ́, tí ó bá ń dije yóò tayọ, kò sí ẹnu-ọ̀nà tí yóò lé e lọ́.

If adversity bites, he dulls its fangs with his resilience, breaking its teeth.

Tí ìṣòro bá gbìyànjú láti jẹ, ó máa ń mú kí eyín rẹ̀ di aláìníláàánú pẹ̀lú ìfaradà rẹ̀, ó sì máa ń fọ eyín rẹ̀.

He is worthy of one who is wise and discerning, both near and far.

Ó yẹ fún ẹni tí ó jẹ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n àti ẹni tí ó ní ìmọ̀, níbi tó súnmọ́ àti níbi tó jìnnà.

To submit to the blows of time and the healer of time.

Láti tẹ́wọ́ gbà ìjà tí àkókò ń fún àti olùtójú àkókò.

Since he nursed from the breast of its milk, he was endowed with its abundance.

Látìgbà tí ó ti ń mu ọmú rẹ̀, ó ti ní ìbùkún rẹ̀ lọ́pọ̀lọpọ̀.

He revived and relieved, and triumphed, bringing joy.

Ó tún wà, ó sì rí ìgbàlà gbà, ó sì ṣẹ́gun, ó sì mú ayọ̀ wá.

He contended and disturbed, fulfilling a clear right.

Ó bá a jà, ó sì dá ìdààmú, ó sì mú ẹ̀tọ́ kedere ṣẹ.

He tired those who followed, and was praised when he shook and endured.

Ó rẹ̀ àwọn tí ó tẹ̀lé e, wọ́n sì yìn ín nígbà tí ó gbọn, ó sì faradà.

He crowned his qualities with the love of his purity:

Ó fi ìfẹ́ ìwà mímọ́ rẹ̀ ṣe àkóso àwọn mímọ́ rẹ̀:

So there is no one with such joy whose fertile shadow extends
