الْمَقَامَةُ الرقطاء

His noble qualities will never cease to support the observer of the lightning of his character.

Awọn adamọ́ ìwà rẹ̀ ń ṣe àtìlẹ́yìn fún èèyàn tí Ó ni won imọlẹ ìráwọ̀ ìwà rẹ̀.

By the eternal Lord, the living everlasting.

Pẹlú ibukún Olúwa àìnípẹ̀kun, ẹni tí ó ń bẹ́ títí láé.

He said: When the prince examined its pearls.

Ó sọ pé: Nígbà tí Apàṣẹ yọjú sí àwọn ẹ̀yẹ rẹ̀.

And glimpsed the secret deposited within it.

Ó sì rí àṣírí tí ó wà nínú rẹ̀.

He immediately ordered the settlement of my debt.

Ó pàṣẹ lẹ́sẹ̀kẹsẹ̀ fún ìsanwó gbèsè mi.

And separated between my adversary and me.

Ó sì yà mi kúrò lọwọ èèyàn tí n bá mí fá wàhálà.

Then he chose me for his abundance and favored me with his generosity.

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó yàn mí fún ìbùkún rẹ̀, ó sì fún mi ní àánú rẹ̀.

So I stayed for a few years enjoying his hospitality and grazing in the pasture of his kindness.

Nítorí náà, mo wà fún ọdún díẹ̀ nígbà tí mo ń gbádùn ìgbà alejò rẹ̀, mo sì ń jẹun ní pápá ìfẹ́ rẹ̀.

Until his gifts overwhelmed me and his gold lengthened my tail (skirt).

Títí tí àwọn ẹ̀bùn rẹ̀ fi gbé mi mì, tí wúrà rẹ̀ sì mú ìrù aṣọ mí gùn

I gently departed, as you see, in good condition.

Mo fi ìfẹ́ lọ, bí o ṣe rí, ní ìṣesí rere.
