الْمَقَامَةُ الرقطاء

And he was giving me cups of distraction,

Ó sì ń fún mi ní àwọ̀n àgọ́ ìgbàgbé (idà láàmú),

And he was dragging me with the reins of hope.

Ó sì ń fà mí pẹ̀lú àwọn ìjánu ireti.

Until my chest became tight.

Títí tí àyà mi fi di fífún.

And my patience was exhausted.

Ìfaradà mi sì di òfò.

I said to him: You have no excuse left.

Mo sọ fún un pé: O kò ní ìdí kankan tó ku.

And I have no reason to stay.

Èmi náà kò ní ìdí kankan láti dúró.

And tomorrow I will drive away the crow of separation.

Ní ọ̀la, mo máa lé àdán ìyàtọ̀ lọ.

And I will leave you with (Slippers of Human) nothing.

Mo sì máa kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ (pẹlú bàtà Hunaeni) ní òfò.

Ó sọ pé: Ọlọ́run má jẹ́ kí n tan ọ jẹ.
