My birthplace is Saruj. And there I used to roam.
Ibi tí a bí mi sí ni Saruji. Níbi náà ni mo máa ń rìn kiri.
A town where everything is found and flourishes.
Ìlú kan níbi tí gbogbo nkan wà tí wọ́n sì ń dàgbà.
Its water is from a pure spring.
Omi rẹ̀ wá láti orísun mímọ́.
And its deserts are meadows.
Àwọn aginjù rẹ̀ jẹ́ àgbàlá.
Its people and their dwellings are stars and towers.
Àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ àti àwọn ilé wọn jẹ́ ìràwọ̀ àti àwọn ilé alája rẹpẹtẹ.
How delightful is its breeze and its joyful sight.
Ẹwà ni afẹ́fẹ́ rẹ̀ àti ìran rẹ̀ tí ó dùn mọ́ni lójú.
And the flowers of its hills when the snow melts.
Àwọn odòdó àwọn òkè rẹ̀ nígbà tí yinyin ń yo.
Whoever sees it says the anchor of the world's paradise is Saruj.
Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá rí i sọ pé èbúté ọgbà idẹra tayé ni Saruji.
And whoever leaves it has sighs and sobs.
Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá fi sílẹ̀ ní ìrora àti ẹ̀kún.
Like what I faced since the foreigners displaced me from it.
Bí ohun tí mo dojú kọ́ láti ìgbà tí àwọn àjèjì yọ mi kúrò níbẹ̀.
