الْمَقَامَةُ الْبَرْقَعِيدِيَّةُ

عَرَبِيَّة : فَعَرَفْتُهُ حِينَئِذٍ شَخْصِي

English: I recognized him then personally,

Yoruba: Nígbà náà ni mo mọ̀ ọ́n ní tòótọ́,

عَرَبِيَّة : وَآثَرْتُهُ بِأَحَدِ قُمْصِي

English: And favored him with one of my shirts.

Yoruba: Mo sì fún un ní ọ̀kan nínú àwọn aṣọ mi.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَأَهَبْتُ بِهِ إِلَى قُرْصِي

English: I invited him to my bread.

Yoruba: Mo pè é wá sí ibi oúnjẹ mi.

عَرَبِيَّة : فَهَشَّ لِعَارِفَتِي وَعِرْفَانِي

English: He was delighted by my kindness and recognition.

Yoruba: Inú rẹ̀ dùn sí dáadáa àti ìdamọ̀ mi.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَلَبَّى دَعْوَةَ رَغْفَانِي

English: He answered the call of my loaves,

Yoruba: Ó gba ìpè àkàrà mi,

عَرَبِيَّة : وَانْطَلَقَ وَيَدِي زِمَامُهُ

English: And set off with my hand as his guide

Yoruba: Ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ ìrìnàjò pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí amọ̀nà rẹ̀

عَرَبِيَّة : وَظِلِّي إِمَامُهُ

English: And my shadow as his leader.

Yoruba: Àti òjìji mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí olùdarí rẹ̀.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَالْعَجُوزُ ثَالِثَةُ الْأَثَافِي

English: The old woman was the third of the cooking stones,

Yoruba: Arúgbó obìnrin náà jẹ́ ẹlẹ́ẹ̀kẹta nínú àwọn òkúta ìdáná,

عَرَبِيَّة : وَالرَّقِيبُ الَّذِي لَا يَخْفَى عَلَيْهِ خَافِي

English: And the watchful one from whom nothing hidden is concealed.

Yoruba: Àti olùṣọ́ tí ohun ìkọ̀kọ̀ kò le fi ara pamọ́ fún.

عَرَبِيَّة : فَلَمَّا اسْتَحْلَسَ وَكْنَتِي

English: When he settled in my dwelling,

Yoruba: Nígbà tí ó balẹ̀ ní ibùgbé mi,
