English: I feigned blindness until it was said I was truly blind. No wonder a youth follows in his father's footsteps.
Yoruba: Mo ṣe bí ẹni tí kò ríran títí tí wọ́n fi sọ pé mo fọ́jú. Kò yà ni lẹ́nu pé ọ̀dọ́ a máa tẹ̀lé ìṣísẹ̀ baba rẹ̀.
English: Then he said to me: Rise to the chamber and bring me a wash that pleases the eye.
Yoruba: Lẹ́yìn náà ó sọ fún mi pé: Dìde lọ sí iyàrá kí o mú ohun ìwẹ̀ tí ó dùn mọ́ ojú wá fún mi.
English: And cleanses the hand.
