الْمَقَامَةُ الْبَرْقَعِيدِيَّةُ
عَرَبِيَّة : أَتْأَرَ إِلَيَّ نَظَرَهُ.
English: He fixed his gaze upon me.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَلَمَّا تَعَامَى الدَّهْرُ وَهُوَ أَبُو الْوَرَى عَنِ الرُّشْدِ فِي أَنْحَائِهِ وَمَقَاصِدِهِ
English: When Time, the father of mankind, feigned blindness to guidance in its ways and purposes,
Yoruba: Nígbà tí Àkókò, baba ẹ̀dá, ṣe bí ẹni tí kò ríran sí ìtọ́sọ́nà ní ọ̀nà àti èrò rẹ̀,
عَرَبِيَّة : تَعَامَيْتُ حَتَّى قِيلَ إِنِّي أَخُو عَمًى وَلَا غَرْوَ أَنْ يَحْذُو الْفَتَى حَذْوَ وَالِدِهِ
English: I feigned blindness until it was said I was truly blind. No wonder a youth follows in his father's footsteps.
Yoruba: Mo ṣe bí ẹni tí kò ríran títí tí wọ́n fi sọ pé mo fọ́jú. Kò yà ni lẹ́nu pé ọ̀dọ́ a máa tẹ̀lé ìṣísẹ̀ baba rẹ̀.
عَرَبِيَّة : ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي: انْهَضْ إِلَى الْمُخْدَعِ فَأْتِنِي بِغَسُولٍ يَرُوقُ الطَّرْفَ.
English: Then he said to me: Rise to the chamber and bring me a wash that pleases the eye.
Yoruba: Lẹ́yìn náà ó sọ fún mi pé: Dìde lọ sí iyàrá kí o mú ohun ìwẹ̀ tí ó dùn mọ́ ojú wá fún mi.
عَرَبِيَّة : وَيُنَقِّي الْكَفَّ.
English: And cleanses the hand.
Yoruba: Tí ó ń fọ ọwọ́ mọ́.
عَرَبِيَّة : وَيُنَعِّمُ الْبَشْرَةَ.
English: And softens the skin.
Yoruba: Tí ó ń mú awọ dán.
عَرَبِيَّة : وَيُعَطِّرُ النَّكْهَةَ.
English: And perfumes the breath.
Yoruba: Tí ó ń tù òórùn dídùn.
عَرَبِيَّة : وَيَشُدُّ اللِّثَةَ.
English: And strengthens the gums.
Yoruba: Tí ó ń mú eyín lẹ̀.
عَرَبِيَّة : وَيُقَوِّي الْمَعِدَةَ.
English: And fortifies the stomach.
Yoruba: Tí ó ń mú ikùn lágbára.
