I saw the master of our hunt; he is our Abū Zayd.
Mo rí olùkọ́ wa nínú pápá; ọ̀un ni Abū Seidu wa.
So I said to my companions: This is the one I mentioned who speaks correctly when he talks.
Nítorí náà, mo sọ fún àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ mi pé: Èyí ni ẹni tí mo sàpèjúwe pé ó máa ń sọ̀rọ̀ tó ní òtítọ́ nígbà tí ó bá ń sọ̀rọ̀.
And when he seeks rain, it pours.
Àti tí wọ́n ba béèrè ojo rẹ, ó máa ń rọ̀ lọ́nà púpọ̀.
They craned their necks towards him and fixed their eyes upon him.
Wọ́n gbé ọ̀run wọn sókè sí ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì fi ojú wọn lé.
And they asked him to spend the night entertaining them, promising to provide for his family.
Wọ́n sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀ pé kí ó pẹ̀lú wọn lọ́jọ́kan, wọ́n sì ṣèlérí láti tójú ẹbí rẹ̀.
He said: With love for what you desire, and you are welcome whenever you welcome me.
Ó sọ pé: Pẹ̀lú ìfẹ́ fún ohun tí ẹ fẹ́, ẹ kú àbọ̀ nígbà gbogbo tí ẹ bá gbà mí.
However, I came to you while my children are writhing from hunger.
Síbẹ̀, mo wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ yín nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ mi ń ṣubú fún ìbànújẹ́ nítorí ebi.
And they are praying for my quick return.
Àti pé wọ́n ń gbàdúrà fún mi kí n padà kíákíá
If they agreed that I am late, they will become restless, and their lives will no longer be peaceful.
Tí wọ́n bá fẹnu kò pe mo tí pẹ, wọn yóò dálè rú, àti pé ayé wọn kò ní dùn mọ́ lára wọn.
So allow me to go and fill their hunger and ease their choking,
Nítorí náà, jẹ́ kí n lọ dí ìyàn wọn, kí n sì mú ìnira wọn rọlẹ.
