الْمَقَامَةُ الْمغربية

So take this advice, which is one of the most valuable and a source of benefits.

Gba ìmọ̀ràn yìí, èyí tí ó jẹ́ ọkan nínú àwọn ìmọ̀ràn tó níyelori àti orísìírísìí èrè.

And he recited: If you harvest the fruit of a palm tree, do not bring it near the next season.

Ó kọrin pé: Bí o bá kó èso ọ̀pẹ́ kan, má ṣe mú sún mọ́ ìgbà tí ó ń bọ̀.

And if you fall upon a threshing floor, gather the grains that are there.

Bí o bá sọkalẹ sórí àpáta kan tí wọ́n sá ọkà sí, kó àwọn irúgbìn tí ó wà níbẹ̀.

And do not delay when you gather, lest you get caught in the trap of the hunter.

Mà ṣe pẹ nibẹ̀ nígbà tí o bá kó jọ́, kí o má bàa kó sí pakute ọdẹ

And do not venture too far when you swim, for safety is in the shore.

Má tẹ̀ síwájú jù nígbà tí o bá wẹ̀, nítorí ààbò wà ní etí odò.

Converse with "Bring now" and respond with "Shall". Sell your future for the present.

Ṣọ̀rọ̀ pẹ̀lú "Mu wá", dáhùn pẹ̀lú "Ma pa dá wá". Ta ọjọ́ iwájú rẹ̀ fún ayé ìsinsin yìí.

Do not overburden a companion, for no one bores except a staying guest.

Má ṣe di ẹrù púpọ̀ fún ọ̀rẹ́ kàn, nítorí ẹni kò sí ẹnì tí ń kó irẹwẹsí bá èèyàn jú àlejò pipẹ lọ

Then he said: Store this in your heart and follow it in your affairs.

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó sọ pé: Fìpamọ́ sínú ọkàn rẹ, máa ṣàgbọ̀yé rẹ̀ nínú àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ.

And hasten to your companions, under the protection of your Lord.

Sáré lọ sódò àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ ní àbò Olúwa rẹ.

When you reach them, deliver my greetings and recite my advice to them.

Nígbà tí o bá dé sí ọdọ wọn nì, fi ìkíni mi ranṣẹ́ sí wọn, kí o sì kà ìmọ̀ràn mi fún wọn.
