The one on his right will arrange it in fours.

Ẹni tí ó wà ní ọ̀tún rẹ̀ yóò ṣètò rẹ̀ ní mẹ́rin.

And the one on his left will arrange it in sevens despite him.

Àti ẹni tí ó wà ní òsì rẹ̀ yóò ṣètò rẹ̀ ní méje ní dandan.

The narrator said: We had organized ourselves like the fingers of a hand.

Olùpatan sọ pé: A ti ṣètò ara wa bí àwọn ìka ọwọ́.

And we formed a bond like the companions of the cave.

Àti pé a dá àjọṣe kan bí àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́ ihò.

So, due to the greatness of my trial, the one on my right began.

Nítorí náà, nítorí ìṣòro mi tóbi, ẹni tí ó wà ní ọ̀tún mi bẹ̀rẹ̀.

And he said: Blame a brother who is weary.

Ó sì sọ pé:Sọ èébú sí arákùnrin tí ó rẹ̀.

And the one on his right said: Magnify the hope of your Lord's reward.

Ẹni tí ó wà ní ọ̀tún rẹ̀ sọ pé: Gbé tobi, ìrètí èrè Olúwa rẹ.

And the one next to him said: Whoever cultivates, if he is righteous, will prosper.

Ẹni tí ó tẹ̀lé sọ pé: Ẹni tí ó ń gbìn, tí ó bá jẹ́ olóòótọ́, yóò ṣàṣeyọrí.

And the other said: Silence everyone who gossips about you, and you will succeed.

Ẹni mìíràn sọ pé: Dákẹ gbogbo ẹni tí ó ń sọ̀rọ̀ nípa rẹ, ìwọ yóò ṣàṣeyọrí.

And the turn came to me.

O wá yìí dé ọdọ mi.
