الْمَقَامَةُ الْمغربية

Mo dé àárín wọn bí ẹnìkan tó béèrè fún àánú, mo sì rí ẹbun tí ó ń ṣàn!

I swore that if the generous were small rain, those are definitely flood

Mo búra pé bí ọlá bá ojo kékeré, wọ́n yóò jẹ agbanla omi (ojo jàjafá).

Then he took two spear-length steps and returned seeking refuge from death

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó gbésẹ̀ niwọn ọfà méjì, ó sì padà láti wá ààbò lọ́wọ́ iku

And he said: O honor for those who lack lineage, and treasure for those who have lost wealth.

Ó sọ pé: Ẹ ọlá fún àwọn tí kò ní ìran, àti ìṣúra fún àwọn tí wọ́n sọnù nínú òwò.

Òkùnkùn ti wọ̀, ọ̀nà tó hàn náà sì ti ń dì jú

Between me and my goal is a dark night and a path that is lost.

Láàrin èmi àti ibi tí mo ń lọ ni òru tí ó ṣokunkun àti ọ̀nà tí ó ti pàrẹ.

Is there a lamp that can protect me from stumbling and show me the way?

Ṣé kòsí àtúpà kan tí yóò lè dáàbò bo mí kúrò nínú ìkọsẹ̀ àti tí yóò fún mi ní ìran ọ̀nà?
