الْمَقَامَةُ السنجارية

Sí ìjíròrò rẹ̀.

And I was deceived by his smile.

Àti pé mo gbẹ̀tan nípa ẹ̀rín rẹ̀.

In his company.

Nínú ìbáṣepọ̀ rẹ̀.

And I was attracted by the greenness of his dump,

Àti pé inífẹ̀ẹ́ sí ẹfọ orí akitan aláwọ̀ ewé rẹ̀, kò ìgbàgbé bami,

For his companionship.

Fún ìbáṣepọ̀ rẹ̀.

And I was lured by the deception of his appearance.

Àti pé mo jẹ́ ẹ̀tan nípa ìwòye rẹ̀.

By his demeanor.

Nítorí ìwà rẹ̀.

So I mingled with him thinking he was a friendly neighbor.

Nítorí náà, mo bá a ṣepọ̀ nígbà tí mo rò pé ọ̀rẹ́ aláyọ̀ ni.

But it turned out he was a fierce eagle,

Ṣùgbọ́n ó yé mi pé ẹyẹ Idì apanirun ni,

And I thought he was a loving companion.
