الْمَقَامَةُ السنجارية

فظهر أنه حباب مؤالِس.


English

But he turned out to be a deceptive bubble.

Ṣùgbọ́n ó yé mi pé ìfóófòó ẹtàn ni.

ومالحْته ولا أعلَم أنه عند نقْدِه.


English

And I befriended him not knowing that in his criticism.

Àti pé mo bá a ṣepọ̀ láìmọ̀ pé nínú ìdáhùn rẹ̀.

ممن يفرح بفَقْدِه.


English

He is among those whose absence is rejoiced at,

Ó ń bẹ nínú àwọn tí a ó yọ sí àìsí rẹ,

وعاقرته ولم أدرِ أنه بعد فره.


English

And I drank with him not knowing that after his joy.

Àti pé mo mu pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ láìmọ̀ pé lẹ́yìn ayọ̀ rẹ̀.

ممن يطرب لمَفره.


English

Among those whose escape is a delight,

O ń bẹẹ nínú àwọn tí Wọn yóò dùn ìnú sí sisalọ rẹ

وكانت عندي جاريةٌ.


English

And I had a maid.

Àti pé mo ní ìránṣẹ́bìnrin kan.

لا يوجد لها في الجَمالِ مجاريةٌ.


English

There was none like her in beauty.

Kò sí èèyàn tí ó dàbí rẹ̀ nínú ẹwà.

58

إنْ سفرت خجِلَ النيرانِ.


English

If she unveiled, the two heavenly lights would be ashamed.

Yoruba

Tí ó bá ṣí ìbòjú rẹ̀, iná méjèèjì (òṣùpá àti òórùn) yóò tijú

59

وصلِيتِ القُلوب بالنيرانِ.


English

And hearts would be scorched by the flames.

Yoruba

Àti pé ọkàn yóò gbóná nínú iná.

60

وإنْ بسمت أزرت بالجُمانِ.


English

If she smiled, she would outshine the beads of silver,

Yoruba

Tí ó bá rẹ́rìn-ín, yóò tàn yanran ju ìlẹkẹ fàdákà lọ,
