الْمَقَامَةُ الْفُرَاتِيَّةُ

And hardship in what is created.

Àti pé ìṣòro ń bẹ nínú ohun tí a dá.

Until it's overwhelmed and bribed.

Títí tí a fí borí rẹ tí a sí fún ní àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀.

Except for those who believe and do good deeds, and few are they.

Àyàfi àwọn tí ó ní ìgbàgbọ́ àti àwọn tí ó ṣe iṣẹ́ rere, tí wọ́n kò sì pọ́ rárá.

Al-Harith ibn Hammam said: When he delighted the ears with what was pleasing and terrifying.

Hárìsù ọ̀mọ̀ Hammam sọ pé: Nígbà tí ó tí jẹ kí àwọn etí gbádùn pẹlú ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ tí o dun tí o sì ṣe èèmọ.

Àwa bèèrè nípa ìrán rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ó ṣiyè méjì ó sì kọ ṣe ìbátan. Bí ó bá ti rí iho kan, yóò kó sí ìbẹ̀.

So I was in confusion because of his ambiguity until I remembered after a long time.

Nigba naa, nitori iro pipa re, mo wa ninu ibanuje , títí tí mo fi rántí lẹ́yìn òpòlopò ọdún.

So I said: By the One who made the rotating heavens and the moving ships.

Nítorí náà, mo sọ pé: Ní orukọ́ Ẹni tí ó dá àwọn ọ̀run tó ń yí, àti àwọn ọkọ̀ tó ń lọ.

I surely sense the scent of Abu Zayd, though I remember him as one of splendor and strength.

O dájú pé mo ń gbóòrùn Baba Seidu, bó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé mo rántí rẹ sí ẹ̀lẹ́wà àti alagbára.

He smiled and laughed at my words and said: It is I, despite the transformation of my condition and surroundings.

Ó rẹ́rin pẹ̀lú èrín pẹ̀lú ohun tí mo sọ, ó sọ pé: Èmi ni, bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé àyíká àti ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ mi ti yí padà.

So I said to my companions: This is the one whose achievements cannot be surpassed, whose genius is unparalleled.

Nítorí náà, mo sọ fún àwọn ẹ̀gbọ́n mi: Èyí ni ẹni tí a kò le ṣe irú ìgbìyànjú rẹ, ẹni tí òye rẹ̀ kò ni ẹlẹgbẹ́.
