Chapter 22

الْمَقَامَةُ الْفُرَاتِيَّةُ

21

وَتَبَطَّنَّا الوِلِيَّةَ المَاشِيَةَ عَلَى المَاءِ.


English

And we entered the saddle that's walking on water.

A sì wọ́ inú yẹ̀wù tí ń rìn lórí omi.

22

أَلْفَيْنَا بِهَا شَيْخًا عَلَيْهِ سُحْقُ سِرْبَالٍ وَسِبُّ بَالٍ.


English

We found an old man there wearing a tattered robe and a worn-out turban.

A ri agbalagba kan níbẹ̀ tí ó wọ aṣọ àkísà àti làwàní tó tí gboo.

فَعَافَتِ الجَمَاعَةُ مَحضَرَهُ.


English

The group disliked his presence.

Ẹgbẹ́ náà kọ̀ wiwà níbẹ rẹ̀.

وَعَنَّفَتْ مَنْ أَحضَرَهُ.


English

And they rebuked the one who brought him.

Yoruba

Wọ́n sì ṣe ìbáwí fún èèyàn tó mú wá.

25

وَهَمَّتْ بِإبْرَازِهِ مِنَ السَّفِينَةِ.


English

They intended to eject him from the ship.

Wọ́n pinnu láti mú jáde kúrò nínú ọkọ̀ ojú omi.

لَوْلَا مَا ثَابَ إلَيْهَا مِنَ السَّكِينَةِ.


English

If not for the tranquility that returned to them.

Yoruba

Bi kí bá ṣe ọ̀la ìtura tó padà dé sí wọn.

27

فَلَمَّا لَمَحَ مِنَّا اسْتِثْقَالَ ظِلِّهِ.


English

When he noticed that we were burdened by his shadow.

Nigbati o rí wípé òjíjí rẹ tí ń sú wá

28

وَاسْتِبْرَادَ طَلِّهِ.


English

And felt the coldness of his dew.

Àtí apọju tí tútù émímí rẹ.

29

تَعَرَّضَ لِلْمُنَافَثَةِ.


English

He tried to discuss.

Yoruba

O gbìyànjú láti bawa sọ̀rọ̀.

30

فَصُمّتَ.


English

But he was silenced.

Yoruba

Ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n dá lákẹ́.
