الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّينَارِيَّةُ

English: Al-Harith bin Hammam said:

Yoruba: Harisu ọmọ Hammam sọ pé:

English: My heart whispered to me that he was Abu Zayd,

Yoruba: Ọkàn mi sọ fún mi pé Abu Seidu ni,

English: And that his limping was a trick.

Yoruba: Àti pé ìtẹ̀sẹ̀ rẹ̀ jẹ́ ẹ̀tàn.

English: So I called him back and said to him:

Yoruba: Nítorí náà mo pè é padà mo sì sọ fún un pé:

English: You've been recognized by your embroidery.

Yoruba: A ti mọ̀ ọ́ nípa aṣọ rẹ tó ní ìṣẹ́ ọnà.

English: So walk straight.

Yoruba: Nítorí náà, rìn déédé.

English: He said: If you are Ibn Hammam,

Yoruba: Ó sọ pé: Tí o bá jẹ́ ọmọ Hammam,

English: May you be greeted with honor,

Yoruba: Kí a kí ọ pẹ̀lú ọlá,

English: And may you be greeted among the honorable!

Yoruba: Kí a sì kí ọ láàrin àwọn ọlọ́lá!

English: I said: I am Al-Harith.

Yoruba: Mo sọ pé: Èmi ni Harisu.
